A typical day playing outside...

Zooming by with his sister following behind.  Yep...pretty much sums it up. Oh, and the snack in hand. Got to have a snack...  To describe how much Stefan loves riding his bike would be impossible so I'll save myself the agony.  He loves it. Oh, and he calls it a motorcycle. Don't forget that, please.
She's a sneaky one...take your eyes of her for a second and she runs back inside and comes out with bread.  Goodness...she keeps her Mama busy!
I bet you don't have this cute of a door stopper at your house? Okay, okay...truthfully he was just watching his brother and sister play outside;)

"Sorry, Mom! It can go in the wash."

It has been unseasonably warm this week. It's hard to believe that last Saturday we were at the Pumpkin Patch with weather in the 50's, and this Saturday it was in the mid-80's! Knowing that this kind of weather is coming to a close we decided to take advantage of it. This afternoon after the kids naps we headed out to a park very close to our house. We "hiked" along a trail by the water. I say "hike" simply because it was a rough trail, not because it was long. Ha!

It was perfect, as was evidenced by the smiles and dirt on our kids faces!

Contemplating getting over to the other side to climb those rocks!

Showing off a find from nature!

A stop for a picnic supper.
Side note: Do you know how hard it is to get two kids to eat when there is water to play in?
I'll leave that to your imagination.

They could have played here for hours.

When one plays in the water and trips, this is what happens!

He fell, got up, and said good naturedly, "Sorry, Mom! It can go in the wash."

Yes, Stefan, it can. And truthfully, I was thrilled.

I loved hearing in the car on the way home, "Daddy. Mommy. That was soooooooooo fun. We needs to do that alllllllllll the time."

Family Fun

Lookin' all grown up playing on the floor.

Three kids. Playing together. Nobody is crying. MUST grab the camera:-).

They thought Silas needed a hug from Tigger.

Stefan was very proud to stay up after Olivia went to bed for popcorn and a game.
(Special thanks to Papi and Mimi for the awesome Curious George memory game. It was a winner!)

Pumpkin Patch!

This weekend my sister, Donna, came for a visit. It was so nice to see her even though it was a short trip. Brian and I had been planning for a few weeks to take the kids to a pumpkin patch so we were glad that it worked out to go when Donna was here. We had so much fun! I commented to Donna as I was getting bags, diapers, extra outfits, jackets, sippy cups, snacks and all the other things that are involved in getting a family out the door for an outing that things like this always take work. Sometimes I wonder in the process of "getting ready" if it is worth it but I always remind myself that at the end of the day we'll be glad we made the effort.

Saturday was no exception. While it required effort to go, and we didn't get out the door until a full hour after we had originally planned (don't worry, I had factored in some lazy morning leeway time so it was all good), and the weather was colder than we expected we were so glad we went.

Really, when you see the smiles on the kids faces you can't help but be happy. And later in the day, Brian said to me, "You smiled so much today." Really? I didn't even notice, but fun was in the air and it really was a great family outing.

Is this not the sweetest picture? Definitely going in a frame!

Brian found this pumpkin patch and it turned out to be a great place. It really was just good old fashioned fun! Small enough to still be homey, but enough things to do that we were busy the whole time. We chose to do only the free things, but there were several other things we could have done if we wanted to pay for it.

The tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch to pick out some pumpkins was definitely the highlight for Stefan. Ok, and Mommy too. I had never picked out a pumpkin in a patch, and I was slightly giddy over it.

We enjoyed so many fun things:

  • Family time
  • Fun times with Auntie Donna
  • Picking out some pumpkins
  • Going on a tractor ride
  • A petting zoo
  • Playing and jumping in the hay
  • Laughter
  • Lots and lots of memories

Olivia had the sweetest expressions. A mixture of wonder and excitement!

Stefan's excitement was contagious

Fun times with Auntie Donna

We're so glad we got to spend such a fun day. All the great pictures are thanks to Donna. I think this just might become a yearly tradition for as long as we are in Louisville.

Now, I'm fall-ifying my house (is that a word?). Such a great time of year. I absolutely love it! I hope you all got to do some fall fun this weekend, too!
