Famous Houses of Concord

Clockwise: Emerson and Hawthorne lived in this house at North Bridge. The second house was another one of Emerson's. Orchard House is the third house and is "Home of Little Women." The last house, Wayside House, was where Louisa May Alcott's family lived.

This is Walden Pond where Thoreau lived for a time. We saw a replica of his very small house. It wasn't much bigger than a shed!

Those are places that I became very intrigued in when I taught American Lit. I can't wait to go sometime, but in the meantime, you'll have to share all you learned. Looks like you're having a fun-filled stay in New England!

Did you know that one of the ancestors of Ralph Waldo Emerson was a rejected suitor of one of the descendants of Jonathan Edwards ? (His daughter Esther, to be exact.)

Just read this trivia today on our trip home and thought you might be interested to know. ;-)
